Yes you need to ask your insurance provider for more details and any hidden cost, especially the fee out of the pocket and the total amount you pay (depending on how much your policy will cover).

BTW, (in my view) there is not much difference between public or private hospitals in regards to delivering and caring new baby. And you can always go to a public hospital no matter you have private insurance cover or not. By paying the extra fees in a private hospital, you have these advantages: (a) you can select the OB you prefer; and (b) your partner can stay with you at night when you are in the ward.

Depending on where you live, you can choose one or two hospitals and attend their tour visits of the Maternity Unit to have a basic idea of what they offer (facilities, OBs, clinics, etc). You need to do your own research and make up your own mind, so that in future, you wont blame anyone else.

One more thing, if you have any serious issues during your pregnancy (like heart disease, diabetes, etc), the King Edward Hospital is your only choice.
